Day 1: The Princess Bride

The question “what should I read next” has taken on a new weight with social distancing keeping folks closer to home. With that in mind I have decided to start offering daily book suggestions . All of these books are available at The Conundrum .

As mentioned yesterday , you can either come into the store or we are happy to email an invoice to you for parking lot pickup or shipping .

As I start this I naturally had to start with my favorite book : “The Princess Bride” by William Goldman .

This tale of true love, high adventure, pirates, princesses, giants, miracles, fencing, and a frightening assortment of wild beasts is perfect for escaping into another world , either alone, or as a family read-along. Do not skip the forwards (there are 3) . The writing in this book is so superb it bends reality and you will have yourself questioning your own knowledge of geography and history (Are Florin and Guilder really places ? Was there really a Prince Humperdinck and if so who are his descendants today ?)

Missing this book is “Inconceivable” so pick one up today and get reading. We offer two versions a beautiful deluxe edition and a standard hardback (this is a book you will want to keep forever on your bookshelf so no paperback will do -in my humble opinion - but if you prefer a paperback just let us know and we can order it “As you wish” ). Enjoy the book and “Have fun storming the castle “. !

(My little quotes in “quotation marks” above will become funny little reference jokes that you just might find yourself referring to the rest of your lives once you read this book so waste no time !)
