Day 295: Through the Bible in One Year

Chatting Books Online Day 295. Today's recommended book is "Through the Bible in One Year : A 52 Lesson Introduction to the 66 Books of the Bible" by Dr. Alan B. Stringfellow.

Perhaps 2021 is your year to finally read through the entire Bible. Perhaps your goal for 2021 is to gain a better understanding of what makes each book of the bible different , what are it's major themes. Or perhaps you would like to memorize key scriptures from the Bible.

This workbook can help you with all of those. This book lays out a lesson plan for each week of the year in which themes of the Bible are explored, readings are assigned and discussed and hopefully by the end of the book, and the year, you will have a much fuller knowledge of the bible. This is not a simple - read it in 5 minutes each morning - kind of thing. This will take some study and some concentration , but it is laid out in such a way that it makes the entire Bible entirely accessible. This would be a great book to lead your study either alone or as a group over the next year to deepen your understanding of the Bible and your relationship with God.

This is a paperback workbook format of 240 pages. Selling for $22.99 a copy. Remember, if you are ordering in bulk for a book club and order more than 6 copies we do give a 10% discount for such orders. For more information on ordering for a study group email Missy@conundrumbooks.com .

Day 294: The Week in Review Dec 28 - Jan 3, 2021

Chatting Books Online Day 294. The Week in Review December 28, 2020 - January 3, 2020.

This week we had to put the Christmas books away and get back to normal - or what passes for "normal" these days anyway.

This week I started the week recommending a year round gardening book in Month by Month Gardening in the Deep South. Then we moved on to a book celebrating LSU's sports stars in "Walking with Tigers" by Jeffrey Marx.

Then we went on a rhyming board book kickk with "Ten Gators in the Bed" and "Bugs on the Rug" both by Johnette Downing and "The Wonky Donkey" by Craig Smith.

And finally we wrapped up the week with my current obsession: cabinet and drawer organization with "The Home Edit Life".

If you missed any of these reviews and want to read what I had to say about them you can see all of our Chatting Books Online picks by visiting our website at: http://www.conundrumbooks.com/chatting-books-online .

We still (and always will going forward) offer shipping if you cannot make it to the store. Or just stop by the shop during or normal hours . See you soon !

Day 293: The Home Edit Life

Chatting Books Online Day 293. Some time ago (101 days ago to be exact in Chatting Books Online Day 192 - Heavens, Time really does fly by) I recommended a book titled "The Home Edit" written by Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin of the phenom Netflix show of the same name. I even told you a bit about my current obsession with the show, the book, and then my start into reorganizing my kitchen drawers in their method. Well in the intervening 101 days I have perfectly (if I may say so myself) organized all drawers in my kitchen and bathroom and I have just completed a huge (and beautiful) overhaul of my pantry. Then today's recommended book came along .

Today's recommended book is the second effort from these same authors: " The Home Edit Life". The subtitle of this book is what got me. It is "The no-gult guide to owning what you want and organizing everything" and unlike most of these organize your life books this one states in BOLD letters at the beginning of the book "It is OK to own things", and then they repeat that! I don't know about you but I was quite tired of these books telling me things like I should give away anything I haven't worn or used in a number of months (but apparently I should thank the item first ?!!) , or blasphemy of blasphemies : I should own no more than 30 books (well I can assure you that book would not be among my 30!). Instead this book is a masterclass with very specific instructions on how to organize the things you might like, might need, or might find sentimental. Now that is a bar set at my height !

Here we go with another round of obsession for me - next up the broom closet and the pots and pans cabinets!

This hardcover book (which I also like better than the paperback first book) sells for $28.50 a copy.

To purchase a copy come see us at the shop during business hours or you can call or message me to have a copy shipped to you . Now mask up and let's get organized in the New Year!

Day 292: Ten Gators in the Bed

Chatting Books Online Day 292. Let’s stick with yesterday’s theme for a moment . Today's recommended book is "Ten Gators in the Bed" which is again (as was yesterday’s pick) written and illustrated by Johnette Downing.

This board book is a fun , rhyming, book about ten alligators who may or may not roll out of bed. Like several of Johnette Downing's book this one is illustrated with her felt and foam collage art and so the Gator look like they could actually jump right off the page! Also like several of the multi-talented Johnette Downing's book she also sings this one and you can google her recordings f=of it and learn the song to sing along - very catchy!!!

This precious board book sells for $ 8.95 a copy.

To purchase a copy come see us at the shop during business hours or you can call or message me to have a copy shipped to you . We are closed today to celebrate New Years day Eating black-eyed peas , cabbage and pork (maybe with a little corn pudding and cheese cake on the side ) but will be back at the shop on Saturday. Now mask up and get ready for a New Year!

Day 291: Bugs on the Rug

Chatting Books Online Day 291. Today's recommended book is "Bugs on the Rug" which is written and illustrated by Johnette Downing.

This board book is a fun , rhyming, book about some mischievous Bugs doing everything from flying around, to hanging out in your soup, and of course snuggling up on the rug. Like several of Johnette Downing's book this one is illustrated with her felt and foam collage art and so the bugs look like they could actually jump right off the page! Also like several of the multi-talented Johnette Downing's book she also sings this one and you can google her recordings f=of it and learn the song to sing along - very catchy!!!

This precious board book sells for $ 8.95 a copy.

Day 290: Walking With Tigers

Chatting Books Online Day 290 . Today’s recommended book is “Walking With Tigers” by Jeffrey Marx.

Jeffrey Marx is a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist who turned his attention to LSU sports . This is an unconventional sports book in that it celebrates not the games but the people who played them and gives a glimpse into their lives . The book also does not limit itself to football , baseball and basketball but encompasses all of LSU sports and the lives it has shaped and changed .

This paperback book sells for $19.95 a copy . We currently have signed copies in stock .

To purchase a copy come see us at the shop during business hours or you can call or message me to have a copy shipped to you -Now mask up and Geaux Tigers !

Chatting Books Online Day 289. Today's recommended book is a bookstore favorite that is being released today in a really great new format. The Wonky Donkey by Craig Smith is now available as a Board Book! I know, right ?!?!

So the words are the same as the ones that make you (and Scottish You-Tube Grandmothers) cry with laughter , the pictures are just as funny but as of today it is no longer only available as a paperback.

This BOARD BOOK (again: I know, right! ) sells for $8.99 a copy
