Join s for a book signing with author Andy Johnson. Wine & Cheese will be served.

AUTHOR BIO:  Andy Johnson was born in Baton Rouge in 1956. He is the father of three children and grandfather of two girls. He practiced law in Lake Charles, Louisiana for 26 years. An alcoholic, Andy got sober in 1998, divorced in 2001, and wiped out by Hurricane Rita in 2005 and by Hurricane Ike in 2008. He retired, retreated, and moved to Baton Rouge in 2010 where he writes, attends to family, serves on the Board of Directors of Keep Louisiana Beautiful, and teaches reading with Volunteers in Public Schools. The Otis Ring, published by Deadpan Press in December 2019, is Andy’s first book.

THE BOOK:  Unnerved by sobriety, and crushed by the loss of family life, a Louisiana lawyer staggers forward in solitude, unable to take the edge off. By turns funny and bittersweet, The Otis Ring is a wry take on failure, despair, perseverance, and acceptance.

With a curious mix of reality and imagination, memoir and fiction, the story is told through a cast of characters, including the author and his children, a hearing-impaired psychotherapist, a lamentable ghost, talking lizards, and a wise yard gnome.

The Otis Ring explores the challenge of lying in a bed of one’s own making. Two jiggers dry wit and a splash of cheap melancholy, The Otis Ring is an intoxicating read. Addictive even.
